Why regular Maintenance is important for your vehicle

Going to regular scheduled maintenances is one of the most important things you can do for your vehicle. While you can inspect your vehicle on a regular basis, it also recommended to have it looked at by a professional as well. Parts that have significant signs of wear or damage can be replaced. This can help prevent any damage being done to other parts of your vehicle. Regular maintenances can also help to provide more efficient fuel mileage to your vehicle. The fluids and oil should be inspected on a regular basis to ensure they are at the proper amount indicated by the reservoir.

Windshield wipers

Windshield wipers in good condition are essential in providing the best visibility possible when you drive. If you have ever tried to scrape frost from your windshield by using washer fluid and running the wipers, you then know how worn windshield wipers cannot clear your view. Driving through a snowstorm with frosty buildup can impair your visibility, as well as making driving a little more stressful. The wipers should be replaced at least once a year to ensure they would be as efficient as possible.

The Battery

The battery can start to lose its charge as the temperature gets colder out. Make sure to watch for corrosion on cables, posts, as well as anywhere else on the vehicle. If you notice corrosion or buildup of debris, make sure to have it cleaned off as soon as possible. This way the battery can power the vehicle as efficiently as possible.

Inspect the brakes regularly

The brake pads, brake rotors, and all other parts of the brake system should be inspected. In order to have a safe and reliable vehicle as the roads become covered, the brakes will need to be checked and replaced if needed. If you notice any noises or feel any vibrations when the brake pedal is applied, bring your vehicle in so we can inspect the brakes.

Don’t forget about the belts and hoses

If a belt or hose snaps or leaks, it may cause your vehicle to stop where it is. Look for any thinning or cracking in the belts. Also make sure the hoses are inspected for any punctures or imperfections as well. If a belt breaks, it may lead to damage with the vehicle’s engine.

Check the Tires

The changing temperatures can alter the air pressure of the tires. Make sure that all the tires are filled to the recommended air pressure specified in the vehicle owner’s manual. While inspecting the tires, also check the tread wear. If there are any bald spots or poor tread wear, you may need to invest in a new set of tires. The tires are a major part of how well your vehicle handles in poor driving conditions.

Check the Fluids

It is important to inspect the fluids of your vehicle. On a regular basis and before any long trips, top off any of the fluids that have run low. Windshield washer fluid is used frequently in the winter months. It is recommended to keep a gallon of it in your vehicle to ensure you will always have a clear view of the road.
