Brake repair should be checked regularly. The brakes are important for your vehicle, because they allow you to slow down and stop, allowing you to avoid an accident. You will need to have regular maintenance done on the brakes to ensure they are in the best operating condition possible. If the brakes start to have an issue between visits, make sure to schedule an appointment to bring them in so we can inspect them for you. Brake repair may be needed for your vehicle.

Noises

One way to notice an issue is if you hear any odd noises. When you apply the brakes and you hear a noise, it could mean the brakes are starting to wear out. The power your foot applies on the brake pedal is assisted by hydraulic pressure. The force engages a piston and caliper with brake pads attached to put pressure on the rotor. This pressure on the rotor slows the wheels down to stop your vehicle. When you apply the brakes, you should hear very little, if any, metal on metal noise.

Usually the first sign of brake pad wear is a high-pitched squealing. This sound comes from a soft metal wear indicator that rubs against the brake rotor to alert the driver that a change of brake pads is needed. A metallic grinding sound means that brake pads may be damaging the brake rotors. Any issue, bring the vehicle in incase brake repair is needed.

Grinding Sound on Brakes

Grinding noises are an indication that something is seriously wrong with your brakes. Sometimes, this brake noise could indicate that a small rock is in there. Or a bit of debris has gotten inside the brakes, and the obstruction simply needs to be removed. Other times, a grinding noise can be heard when your brake pads have worn out completely. Then causing the steel backing of the worn-out pad to grind against the brake rotor. In this case, not getting the brake pads replaced as soon as possible is serious. It could do serious damage to the brake rotors, resulting in expensive repair costs. If you notice an issue, make sure to contact us and bring the vehicle in so we can inspect it for you.
