Signs of Poor Brakes

The braking system is the most important safety feature for your vehicle. If you ever notice an issue with the brakes, make sure to bring the vehicle in so we can inspect it. Having the brakes inspected is important for the overall safety of the vehicle for you and your passengers.

The ABS module controls the anti-lock brake system, which is one of the many computer systems in your vehicle. When the ABS light comes on, it is an indication that there is a malfunction somewhere in the ABS system. A diagnostics will be needed in order to determine why the light is on, and what should be done to correct the issue. If the ABS light is on, the system is disabled. The brakes will perform as normal, but the ABS will not function if needed, so it is important to have the issue fixed as soon as possible.

When you apply the brakes, notice if there are any unusual noises. The brakes may make noises that range from grinding to squealing, as well as other noises of varying pitches and severity. Anytime you hear an unusual noise from your vehicle, especially from stepping on the brakes, bring it in so we can inspect it immediately. Not only are poor brakes a safety concern, but if they are ignored, it can also do further damage to your vehicle and result in a larger repair bill.

Another sign could be if the brake light on the dashboard comes on. The brake light typically comes on when the fluid in the reservoir is running low. Worn brake parts or misadjusted brake parts can cause the low fluid in the reservoir. Another reason for any low fluid can be if there is a leak anywhere in the brake system. Having reliable brakes can help your vehicle provide a safe ride when you drive, so make sure to have the brakes inspected regularly.
