How Maintaining Your Vehicle can Benefit You

by | Mar 2, 2015 | Car Care Tips, Driving Habits, Fuel Efficiency, Rotating Tires

It is import to make sure you maintain your vehicle on a regular basis. By doing so, you can help make sure the vehicle can last as long as possible. We can check the parts and components for any issues they might have. Catching a problem at the first sign is important because it can help reduce the chance for a much larger issue to form in the future. This can help you to save time, money, and stress in the long run. If a part is showing signs of an issue, it should be repaired as soon as possible. This will also help reduce the chance that other nearby parts become worn or damaged as well. If you are unsure how often to bring your vehicle in, make sure to contact us. We can advise you on the recommended schedule for your vehicle. If you notice any sign of an issue between visits, it is always best to bring it in as soon as possible, to prevent even further potential damage.

Check the Tires Regularly

Something you should check on a regular basis for your vehicle are the tires. The tires are the only part of the vehicle that makes direct contact with the surface of the road. If the tires start to fail, your vehicle will not be as stable or as controllable as it used to be. The tires help the vehicle travel straight on the road, as well as grip the surface of the road. If you notice that the vehicle pulls or sways in one direction or another, that is an indication that you should bring your vehicle in as soon as possible so we can inspect it for you. A tire rotation or alignment might be needed so that your tires travel efficiently when you drive.

Top off the Fluid Levels

Another thing to inspect are the fluid levels for your vehicle. This includes the oil and windshield wiper fluid levels. Make sure to top off the levels to the line indicated on each reservoir. If you notice that a fluid level decreases faster than normal, make sure to bring the vehicle in so we can inspect it for you. The decrease could be caused from a leak somewhere in the system. We can inspect the fluid levels and the reservoirs to ensure they are in the best condition possible. It is also important to have the oil changed based on the recommended schedule. This will help keep the vehicle properly lubricated for moving parts of the engine. Without oil, the parts will have extra strain and stress on them.

Be aware of the Brakes

When you drive, remember to notice if the brakes are showing signs of an issue. Slow response to the brakes or a pedal that vibrates could mean the brake rotors are starting to wear out. Over time the brake pads will wear down and then have direct contact to the brake rotors. This can reduce the effectiveness of the brakes. Make sure to bring the vehicle in at the fist sign of the issue so we can inspect it for proper safety.
