Over the past few years the technicians at D&D have noticed an alarming trend with LOW fluid levels as vehicles come in for service, especially oil levels. In many cases the oil is not even registering on the dipstick. As modern as today’s vehicles are, over 90% of them DO NOT have a capable oil level monitoring system. WE have had vehicles arrive with LESS than a quart of oil in a 5 quart system and there are still no dash warning lights.
PLEASE monitor all fluid levels on your vehicles, especially the engine oil, transmission fluid, and antifreeze. If you are not sure how to perform these routine checks, just give us a call, or better yet, stop at either of our D&D locations and we will gladly walk you through the process AT NO COST TO YOU! The cost of adding a quart of oil or transmission fluid is way less than installing a new or used motor or transmission…..these services can achieve $3000.00 to $5000.00! Most of us assume that our vehicle fluids will be fine in between oil changes service, but we would strongly recommend you check them at least once per month. A vehicle can easily start to leak or begin to use more fluids.
Most owner’s manuals will show you the location and procedures for checking the important fluid levels. If you have recently purchased a used vehicle, monitoring the levels is especially important until you get to know your vehicle’s habits. As mentioned earlier, please do not hesitate to call or stop in. The phone number at our West Lake Street location is 952-922-9696, and our Minnetonka location is 952-931-9696.
