One of the most important things to consider before leaving on a road trip is the oil and other fluids of the vehicle. Make sure that they are all at the appropriate levels and even be sure to carry extra bottles with you in case of an emergency. Check the belts and hoses for tears and any worn parts as they connect the entire system together. A loose connection can cause issues. To help prevent that, make sure they are tight and secure. Also, test your battery and alternator for a strong charge.

The tires should also be inspected. Check for tread wear and inspect for any holes or punctures. Your lights and wipers should not go unnoticed. Check them for efficiency and replace them if needed. It can also be beneficial to bring the vehicle in so we can inspect it. This way you can help to ensure the parts are working as efficiently and effectively as they should.

If issues arise while you are on your road trip make sure you pull over immediately. If you continue driving, it could potentially make the issue much worse than what it would be if you pulled over. This can help reduce the chance of a costly repair bill. If you are unable to fix or determine the problem you can contact AAA. Depending on your location, you could also bring the vehicle in so we can inspect it for what the issue could be. Make sure to take note of what the issue is, and what you were doing when the issue occurred. This would include how you were driving, if you were turning, what speed you were traveling, and if any electronic devices were on.

Preparing to go on a road trip takes a lot of planning and the last thing you want to do is forget something, especially things that can help with your safety. You should make sure that you have all emergency equipment inside of your car and that everything is working properly. You should have an emergency kit that includes an up-to-date map, cell phone charger, spare tire, and tools. It may also be beneficial to have flashlights and a medical kit, just in case. It is recommended to wash the exterior of your car including the windows for maximum visual coverage. By taking the steps needed to prepare for a vacation you can eliminate delays. It can also help to improve the safety and reliability of your vehicle when you travel, as well as enjoy your time.
